The Harvesters lost to Nassau Community College 97-86 Thursday in the first round of the NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championships in Loch Sheldrake, New York.
The team plays its first game in the consolation bracket at 1 p.m. today against Bunker Hill Community College. If they win the next two games, they would place fifth.
Players to watch for Eastfield are:
Ed Williams, who had a lights-out night Thursday, draining 39 points, eight of them 3-pointers. Williams suffered cramps following the game but was cleared by a doctor at SUNY Sullivan to play in the game.
Tre Anderson, who had twelve points and four rebounds.
Danzel Whitemon, who fouled out with seven left minutes left in the game, collected 11 points.
Whitemon and Anderson have also played a big role on defense this season for the Harvesters.
Players to watch for Bunker Hill are:
David Stewart, who had 30 of the team’s 66 points and seven rebounds in a loss to No. 1 seed Rock Valley.
Fredens Deneus, who scored 11 points and seven rebounds. Deneus is ranked second in the nation in field goals and seventh in rebounds. He is also a canidated for the NJCAA All-American team.
And Elijah Rogers, who finished with eight points and six rebounds.
Both Stewart and Rogers made the all-region team.
