After a long day of traveling across the country, our first night in New York is finally winding down.

The trip included a four hour plane ride to Newark, New Jersey. From there, we traveled two hours by charter to Loch Sheldrake, New York, the site of this year’s NJCAA Basketball Tournament.

The team had an hour to prepare for a 7:00 PM practice at Sullivan County Community college, who hosts the tournament.

After the team loosened up, coach Anthony Fletcher conducted shooting drills, and then the team scrimmaged for about a half an hour. They finished the practice shooting free-throws, and then it was off to the grocery store.

Assistant coach Antonio Richardson offered to cook meals throughout the trip for those who were willing contributors. I accepted the offer, and tonight we had chili dogs. $5 per person isn’t too shabby when in New York.

Tomorrow, the team has an early breakfast set for 8:15. The team will have about an hour to relax in between breakfast and an 11 o’clock practice. Tomorrow’s practice will be the team’s last before playing Anoka-Ramsey on Thursday at noon (ET).

Off the court, the team is excited to attend the NJCAA Elite Eight Banquet tomorrow night.
